This Papa Kupu resource comprises words and phrases specific to their use in the Catholic Church of Aotearoa New Zealand, prepared by Deacon Danny Karatea-Goddard. Māori speakers will recognise many of the words differ from those translations in other Māori English dictionaries. This is because many of the original Māori words used by our Catholic tūpuna were originally derived from the Latin language, not English.
