The Catholic Parish of New Plymouth is seeking a vibrant and faith-filled Youth Minister to lead and grow youth engagement in the parish.
This role involves running youth groups and events, leading the Confirmation programme, building strong relationships with local Catholic colleges, and encouraging young people to take an active part in parish life.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As our Youth Minister, you will be the primary catalyst for youth engagement within our parish. You will create a welcoming environment where young people can encounter Christ and find a sense of belonging bringing to life the vision and mission of our Parish.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leading the Youth Ministry in our parish and supporting our young people in faith and mission.
Youth Groups & Events: Plan and facilitate weekly youth groups, social events, and retreats and lead the Confirmation Programme in our Parish.
School Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with Sacred Heart Girls’ College and Francis Douglas Memorial College and work collaboratively with Principals, Director of Religious Studies, chaplains and teachers.
Encouraging youth participation in parish liturgies and music ministries including youth led masses.
Liaising with parish and diocesan leaders and identify opportunities for leadership training, mentoring and faith formation opportunities for the youth in our parish and encourage pathways for them to take an active role in our parish and diocesan life.
ABOUT YOU:
We are looking for someone passionate about the Catholic faith with a natural ability to connect with young people. Other requirements include:
A practicing Catholic with a deep commitment to the Church.
Previous experience working in a youth ministry is preferable.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Highly proficient in the area of Information Technology.
A team player who can work well alongside others.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
A clean New Zealand full driver’s license and satisfactory Police Vetting.
POSITION DETAILS:
Hours: Full-time, permanent (37.5 hours per week). This role does contain weekend and evening work as required to meet the needs of the Ministry.
Travel: Travel around the Taranaki Region, and occasionally the Diocese, is a requirement of the role.
Reporting: The successful Youth Minister appointee will report to the Strategic Leader of the Parish.
Start date: by negotiation.
