Hawke’s Bay Regional Prison – Chaplaincy Vacancy
Part-time permanent position, 32 hours per week (0.8 FTE)
Applications welcome from all denominations/Churches.
– Can you help us show the love of God inside the prison walls?
– Are you willing to support all prisoners with a non-judgmental heart?
– Will you support Ara Poutama Aotearoa’s goal of keeping communities safe and changing lives?
– Can you use your ministry skills to coordinate religious services and provide pastoral support to those of all Faiths and none?
You will have the opportunity to journey with prisoners as they encounter the challenges of prison life and separation from loved ones and whanau.
We need someone who has a deep faith, pastoral experience and who has some knowledge of te reo and tikanga Māori. You must be confident in providing group and individual services, pastoral support, as well as leading and coordinating volunteers. Experience working with mental health issues would be advantageous.
Significant Christian ministry and pastoral counselling experience are required for the role, as is an appropriate level of mental and physical agility. It is important that you can work constructively as part of the chaplaincy and site management team and that you can be adaptable and flexible in your role. You will preferably either have a formal theological qualification or have made significant progress towards one.
Good IT aptitude is essential. Office 365 is the key platform – therefore some knowledge of SharePoint would be helpful.
