After six years we are home again.
Thank you to all who came to the reopening celebrations of The Metropolitan Cathedral of the Sacred Heart this weekend and to everyone who made it possible for us to return home again. There will be special coverage of the weekend events in the next issue of WelCom which will be out for circulation from this Sunday 17 June, so we encourage you to pick up a copy.
Now that the weekend celebrations have finished, the Cathedral Parish will resume normal activities – visit the Cathedral’s website to stay up to date with their calendar of Mass times and events: https://mcshwellington.org/calendar/
It will also once again be a place to worship and commemorate our special events as an Archdiocese.
Between now and December, there will also be some ongoing restoration work and so we are still fundraising approximately $720,000 to complete this which includes the western face of the Cathedral, the Blessed Sacrament chapel and various other small areas in need of attention. Fundraising efforts will continue beyond the restoration campaign to raise funds for a permanent organ for the Cathedral. To make a donation visit: https://www.cathedralcampaign.org.nz/donation-form
