How can we see God? When was God born? Who made God?
These questions already harbour a claim that God is real.
They come not from a theology text book but from one of our classrooms. Not from Yr 8s or Yr 13s but from new entrants at St Joseph’s Waipukurau. See the photo of our budding theologians!
I love visiting our schools as they are always places of inspiration. These Waipuk children, a couple of whom had been at school for only two weeks, reminded us that God is natural to human beings. Their prayer was all trusting, free of cynicism or doubt. What a gift their witness is to we sometimes weary adults.
Happy holidays to all our students, teachers and school support staff.
Another happy moment last week was a spontaneous visit from members of our Kiribati student community at Massey University. One of their number Meree is returning to her island to work in public health. I had confirmed her at Easter. They came to my office to say thank you. A simple uplifting gesture which warmed my heart.
Thank you.
